The Primacy of Doubt (Basic Books 2022) verbindet Chaosforschung, Wetterprognosen und Quantenphysik – und zeigt, weshalb wir lernen müssen, mit dem Unvorhersehbaren zu leben. Zweifel und die Wissenschaft des Ungewissen bespricht Palmer danach mit Eberhard Bodenschatz (MPI für Dynamik und Selbstorganisation).

Who doesn’t long for more certainty in uncertain times? Physicist and climate scientist Tim Palmer argues that uncertainty is not a weakness of science, but one of its greatest strengths. In The Primacy of Doubt (Basic Books, 2022), he draws on chaos theory, weather forecasting, and quantum physics to show how embracing uncertainty can deepen our understanding of the world. Following the talk, Palmer will discuss the role of doubt and the science of the unknown with Eberhard Bodenschatz (Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization).
