In The Genius Bat (Oneworld 2025) entführt der Ökologe und Neurobiologe Yossi Yovel in die verborgene Welt dieser einzigartigen Tiere – und erzählt dabei von Echoortung, nächtlichen Flugmanövern, sozialer Intelligenz und abenteuerlicher Feldforschung. Das Gespräch führt Jochen Rink (MPI für Multidisziplinäre Naturwissenschaften).

The Secret Life of the Only Flying Mammal
Few animals are as underestimated as bats and flying foxes. With nearly 1,500 species, they account for more than one fifth of all mammal species worldwide. In The Genius Bat (Oneworld, 2025), ecologist and neurobiologist Yossi Yovel takes us into the hidden world of these remarkable creatures, exploring echolocation, nocturnal flight maneuvers, social intelligence, and the adventures of field research. The conversation will be moderated by Jochen Rink (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences).
